300E rollercurtain in rear window

Hi

I have a 300E 1985 with a electrical curtain
in the rear window which do not function at all. How do I check it ? Where is the electrical unit i.e motor situated ? Are there any fuse-connections in the engine room
to check ? Where are the electrical cabels situted and how does it all function.
Any reply would be appreciated

You have to take out the rear seat and the backrest to access. The drive is probably out, it can be repaired though if you want to spend the time to do it.

Anyone know if this was ever offered as a retrofit kit for those of us that don't have it. Is it worth it?

The main intention of the screen is to shield the rear seat passengers from the sun
and it protects leather in the rear. The best use of it is at night when you have tailgating SUVs and pickemups...just raise the screen!! Works great.
