tappets
Hi all...I am totally new to the site and I need some quick info on a 1986 380 se a/t I am looking at buying. The engine is quite noisy which I presume are tappet adjustments. Are they hydraulic are manually adjustable? If they are manual what are the specs (both inllet and outlet, hot or cold). Also I need a fuse box layout as the original fuse cover is missing. If I do buy the car I will purchase a workshop manual but for now I just want to make sure the engine is okay. Thanks in advance for any replies.

tappets
Marco I hope you didn't purchase that 86 380 se yet 'with the tappet noise with out making sure that isn't a worn cam shaft lobe or lobes ' I bought an 85 380 se last year thinking that it was just noisy lifters ,thinking North American V8;s I was mistaken .However I ended up learning from my mistake I replaced the cam and I like my 380se. This was the problem I had {the lobes were worn down for #7 & #3 exhaust valves} The engine had about 140,000 miles at the time. For some reason 'I have read; the right cam wears out first. Gook luck .
