I just bought a '98 E320 that drifts to the right. I posted and got replies on this site. I decided to buy the car when a service dept at another dealership looked at the car and thought they could fix the problem. I just got the car back from them, and the problem is just as bad, if not worse. The car has new Michelins on it, has just been aligned to factory specs. On a flat freeway, if you take your hands off the wheels, within a count of 2 you will be crossing into the lane to the right. I understand it is not safe to drive the car with no hands, but it is tiring and unsafe to have to hold the car in its lane. What can be done now to mitigate this problem? Thanks.

I replied to your earlier post. I have always had the problem. I have aftermarket rims/tires (Carlsson 1/6 & Pirelli P7000 SS) and after many complaints and alignments the dealer is now trying to blame the problem on the non OEM wheels. The problem is so annoying that I am about to buy a new set of wheels and have the Carlssons checked for correctness. The car is very tiresome to drive, I spend all my time correcting my steering. One moment/second with my eyes off the road and I am over the center line or on the curb.

GouxMan, I did call and complain to MBZ USA. They sent a technician and regiional rep to check out the car. It was the only time that the car seemed right and true. They only said that the alignment was out of spec and they "set toe in to center wheel". The dealer wants to blame the right crown of the roads and my aftermarket wheels. Maybe my dealer just can not get the spec correct. Been thinking about trying another dealer. Once I replace the entire set of wheels and tires they better get it right or they will ruin my overall impression of MBZ quality and service.
