How do I know (without taking out the hose) that the radiator install in my car (85' 300D 124) is the new one with the metal inserts on the neck. I understand that the original radiators did'nt have these metal inserts and ocassionally snap.

If you can find a part number (usually stamped or embossed on the top of the radiator, write it down and call a MB part dept and ask them for the number for newer radiator, otherwise, you'll have to remove the upper hose and look inside the fitting. If you see an aluminum sleeve, that's the one
