300E A/C problems

I got in a 300E that the A/C doesn't work. It use to work a few months back. Only when you turn the ignition to the "ON" position it blows air but! you have to wait about 2 minutes. If you start the car it will not blow air with the car running.

???? strange huh?

We will need more information before we can help you troubleshoot your problem.

Two minutes is a LONG time. Are you sure it's not only 10 or 15 seconds? The system will wait a few seconds after starting the engine to allow oil pressure to come up before loading the engine with the compressor.

Does the compressor engage? Does it blow cold after the time delay? Does it blow at all after the time delay? Is the center button on the climate control pressed and the fan in automatic mode? Is the temp wheel on a setting that will require a/c? Does it blow cold ever? Is the sight glass showing clear?

Good luck,

If I turn the Ignition to the "ON" position and wait about 30 seconds the fans start to blow. This is with the climate control set at the lowest position and the AUTO switched pressed. If I turn off the A/C the fans stop when I turn them on the fans blow again. The compressor is not engaging.

If I start the car there is no air blowing. nothing.

I forgot to mention. If i drive the car for over 20 minutes the ABS light comes on. Could this be the OVP relay?
