Has anyone out there replaced the Bowden (SP?) wire on a 300SD? Do I have to drop the transmission pan?

No need to drop the pan. Lift the rubber end fitting at the transmission end and it should be obvious how to unhook the cable from the rod it connects to.

I don't know sixto. I did one on the 300D a while back and had to drop the pan and the valve body to reach up in there and replace the cable.

The cable attaches to a metal rod with an L at the end. If you can hold this metal rod you ought to be able to connect the new cable to it. Needle noze vice grips should work well for this application. The metal rod does not have a lot of force on it (on 722.3) just need to keep it up so you can get the cable end on it.

Thumbs up Bowden Wire Changed! Thanks for your help!

Thanks all for your help, mission accomplished! Too easy once you start. The toughest part of this job was getting the plastic fitting at the transmision to release from its housing. Thanks again
