Question 1987 190E 2.3 Part name?

On the underbody of the car there is a fairly big piece that bolts on to protect the underbody of the car. I just found out mine is missing, but i think I can install myself. Problem is I am having trouble nailing down the MB name for it. I have been told "belly pan" and "something sound deadning" But I don't think either shop knew what they were talking about and one guy said let me call you back I can't find it right now in our catalog...Anyway if anyone has an idea/part number it would be much appreciated....thanks!

sound encapsulation is the words i was looking for I guess. Now after doing some reading is it is a necessary thing? Or should I put one on?

"Sound encapsulation" was only used on the 190D 2.2. The 2.3 has a partial "belly pan" under the engine for aerodynamic management. It usually has to be removed to change the oil, so I'm sure there are many cars running around without it if the owners have their oil changed at Jiffy Lub. The pan is secured with six 6 mm sheet metal screws with 10 mm hex heads.

MB made a plastic cover and also a steel version. Don't know how heavy the steel one is, but it should be a must for anyone that super lowers their suspension.

You may not Have to have it, but it sure keeps that enginebay nice & clean.
This is really appreciated in the winter, with road salt.
