Question 380 SEC gas tank, fuel dist cleaning

I am rebuilding the engine on my 1983 380 SEC. I just bought the car after it sat for 11 years in a garage with the heads and intake manifold removed. (The single row timing chain broke). Can anyone recommend a good method to clean the gas tank after I remove it from the car. It smells like pure varnish after all those years. I also don't know if any damage was done to the fuel dist. after sitting for 11 years. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Bob
