transmission type?

I'm trying to determine the transmission type for my 1991 300SL (6cyl). I believe it's 722.5, but I've been looking into whether or not it is possible to add the bergwerks 1st gear start kit and I'm getting different information from different experts. Thier kit requires a signal from the kickdown switch, but I don't know if I have one. There is no mechanical switch under the gas pedal, but it could be a Hall effect device or located elsewhere. The transmission will only start in 1st gear if the pedal is pushed to the floor. Any info is appreciated. Tod
