For several months I was driving with slippry transmissin, but today few hours ago finally happened!! During 3 hours in Chicago traffic my car ended up rolling forward only on second gear refusing shifting to higher gears(shame)Can you imagine being beepped horn by hundreds of drivers!!?? I called the dealer and the price thay gave me was $2700 with instalation and 24 months or 24K miles warrenty on parts and labor
Question: Since I need new trans, which one would be best choice? I thing oryginally I have 3 speed, can I put a 4 speed in it? and what poses or negs could I expect from it? Benzmac talked about Partsshop carrying better Transmissions that oryginal at the Dealer. What would be the difference in performance and price? Can any shop install this kind of transmission?. What you guys thing about putting a used transmission? I have appointment at the dealer for next friday(nothing earlier available).By than any sugestions are appreciated. Hi Daniel,
Your car has (or should I say had) a four speed tranny. These cars usually start out in 2nd, so most of the time you only effectively use three gears, perhaps giving the impression that you have a three speed. I'm sure you'll get some useful advice re the replacement here... Good luck, Nick |
