window tinting question

Looking to tint the windows on a C-class coup and have heard that there is a particular piece beneth the weather strip that will scratch the inside of the windows when rolled down/up.

Has anyone heard of this & how can it be fixed?

Help!

Dent,

Unfortunate but true. Same as in my '98 E320. It is a hard rubber piece that helps to keep moisture out of the door panel. You COULD trim it, but then you would be defeating the purpose of keeping water out of the door. But then again, since this is on the INSIDE, I can't see what harm can come of it either.....

A professional tinting shop experienced with this issue should be able to overcome it although the shops around where I live are reluctant to make that kind of modification. Having never actually seen the piece myself, I'm not sure if it is something that can be done with a razor or not.

In any case, just wanted to confirm that the part does in fact exist and that it will in fact scratch your tint (as it did mine).

Someone out there has gotta have an answer for you......

Best of luck

tint issue

Thanks for the info...

I remember reading a issue of Benzo mag and they had a artical on this exact problem. I can seem to find it, typical! Right when you need something it is nowhere to be found.

Cheers,
