190E Fuel Pump Relay/Electrial problem
Please help if you can.
I have a 1986 190E, 8V that will not start. When I turn the key the fuel pump no longer makes a sound before the engine starts, which made me suspect a bad fuel pump. I tested the fuel pump and it is not receiving any power when the ignition is turned on, so the pump is not the problem. Next I looked at the Fuel Pump Relay, there were no obvious signs of carbon build up or corrosion on the relay, I then jumped the 87 & 30 terminals which should force power to the fuel pump, and still got no power to the fuel pump. I also inspected the Over Voltage Relay, and it also appears to have no problems. Question, what do I look at next? Is there a fuse that could be preventing power from reaching the relay; is there a main power source that I can check, is there a common ground wire that would cause this problem? All help is appreciated. Todd |
