Light bulb - can't reach

The light has gone out in the instrument cluster specifically the fuel gauge. I have a C280, 1995. Any great hints as to how to reach that bulb? Does the covering come off in front of the instruments or do we get to it from down below? It has been impossible so far, for us to find a book on this model and year. Any help would be appreciated.
