after 2 hours dismantling the fi i noticed that the supplementary air line from the air filter to the control slide housing was not connected.Would this acccount for the excessive fuel consumption?

quote: No, that air has yet to be metered. Once the engine is warm closing that line shouldn't drop the idle speed. When cold plugging the line should kill the motor.
