Question 87 300sdl a\c klima control\relay problem

I have a 87 300 sdl that keeps blowing the Klima relay solder @ the bottom middle where the thin copper strip is. Runs for 2-3 minutes and melts. Any suggestions what could be shorting it?

The only thing that draws much current through the Klima relay is the AC compressor clutch. Check for a shorted coil or worn wire that touches something.

Clutch can be replaced without venting the AC, I think. Probably a huge PITA, but better than converting to 135a if you still have R12.

Can you trace it to a pin? There are codes on each pin that tell you to what it connects. The 87 pin (opposite the blank) connects to a solder joint about in the bottom middle of the board. The 87 pin connects to the compressor supporting Peter's hypothesis. The 15 pin beside the 87 pin that connects to the board beside the 87 connection is the main power supply to the relay.
