New Aux. Fan for 1987 260E??
My auxiliary fan quit on me (1987 260E) and does not come on at all. Will the 300E (W124) auxiliary fan fit on a 260E? Also, my air condition compressor does not engage anymore. Are the two connected in any way? Is the aux fan supposed to be on always when the A/C is turned on?
Thanks in advance!! Igor Zeljic

I ordered a new aux fan motor (which arrives tuesday) but I'm still puzzled regarding the A/C compressor.
Anyone?

You may have wasted some money, or not...
The aux fan will only come on if the AC is operating OR the engine temperature hits a certain breakpoint. My 300E has a 105 degree sensor. Try jumping the terminals at the temp sensor. If the fan comes on, the fan itself was not the problem. Top cause for AC compressor not starting is low refrigerant charge. Best of luck.
