Window switches in 1989 300E
I've got an 1989 300E and the switches for the front windows require you to hold them in order to lower the windows. I've got a 1993 300CE-convertible too, and the switches for the front windows also have a one-touch action in addition to holding the button to lower.
QUESTION - can I install the later model switches in the earlier model car and get the one-touch action? Are the window motors different - would I have to change the motors as well as the switches? (I don't want it that bad...) Anybody have any experience with this? Techs?? Thanks in advance. Cruisin' into a sunny California weekend...

I don't think so, I think the "smart" function is in the window motors.
I don't want them anyway -- too much cost to replace when they quit working. Electric windows are enough pain, let alone automatic ones! Peter
