any troubleshooting inputs would be appreciated.

My driver's seat memory is not working. It tilts, move forward and backwards, headrest moves but no memory.

Also, my alarm comes on when the doors are locked from the outside. I have disconnected it for now.

Do you have the service CD.??? IF not you need one to attempt this type of repair. We sell them in the partsshop. Usually it is in the memory control unit (the problem) or it can be as simple as 30 circuit power failure.

is the memory control unit for the passenger seat identical to the one on the driver seat?
can i swap one for the other? also, is the memory control unit also controlling all other power seat functions ( ie forward, backwards, up, down, tilt), or is it just for the memory function..in other words, will all the other functions be affected if i remove the memory control unit?

so, Benzmac, what do you think? can you respond to my question above? I would like to remove the control unit, but would not like for the other functions to be impaired.

thx....

There is one control unit that controls both seats and the adjustable steering column if you have that option.
Here are the part numbers:
126 820 05 26 w/o adj steering column
124 820 09 26 w/ adj steering column
If you remove the module, your electric seats will no longer work.

thx for the reply.

why is it that the part number for the one with steering wheel begins with 124? isnt it supposed to begin with a 126?

do I need to remove the driver's seat to remove the control module?

Emmy,
I imagine some parts are shared between models - only one part# will be assigned. I have many parts in my 124 that start with "126..."
