I've had my 1992 300CE for 4 months and really like it (95k miles). Mostly minor fixup stuff so far, although I did remove a problematic Becker radio and put in something modern.
It does however have an annoying rattle from the center dash. It gets noticeable above 55 mph. You can reduce the rattle slightly by pressing the recirc air switch. It can be reduced significantly by turning off the climate control. Apparently the air flow at speed is rattling some sort of flap in the climate system. Has anyone seen this before? Any solution other than to remove the dash and investigate? I don't want to be in a position where I take the effort to remove the dash, only to find nothing obviously amiss inside. Thanks in advance. Richard Grayson |
