Special thanks to Haasman and DJNEWK2, I completed the same task on my S500. Luckyly I didn't have any problem getting the lines out(I did have difficulty putting the large one in due to the nut not sliding on the line free) however due to the different chasis one minor problem came later. You have to drop the muffler in order to take the accumulator out/in(new one) on the driver side. I got few drops of Fluid since I used the bleeding technique of Djnewk2. Also I did have the car chasis sitting on jacks which may have taken some pressure of the system. I am putting this post mostly for novice people like myself who wonders where are all these parts and what they look like so I have a few pictures to go along.
Ok, this is my first post so I am not sure if these pictures will show.
I put the car on ramps (
picture 1) then put jacks extended until they are 1/2 inch away from the car(
picture 2) I could not make them go any higher so that measurement is flexible. When I bleed some fluid from the adjustmet valve (
picture 3) the car droped on the jacks but gave me lots of room to work also I didn't have the "being crushed paranoia"
The last picture is the 2 screws you need to take out which secure the muffler. You then need to move/pull/push the muffler to make enough room for the accumulator to come out.
TIPS: Driver side accumulator nuts are very hard to reach, I found that to have a few different types of wrenches in size 10 and 11 helps. I even used 2 inch long light weight wrenches after loosening up the nuts and also when treading the small compression screw and the chasis nuts then I tightened eveything with the heavy duty stuff.
