I do not know if you guys are aware, but Daewoo has planned on using a Mercedes 3.2 inline 6. I was wondering, wouldn't that be the m104 most likely, since it was in production all the way to 97. It is also suppose to have a 5-speed manual trans (most likely a Getrag is what auto insiders say.) Do you think these parts might be a close if not exact copy, and do you think they could be easily swapped into the Mercedes model line, like a a 300E or something.

goto Motortrend.com or caranddriver.com. The models are the Daewoo Korando and Daewoo Musso which are both SUVs.
http://www.motortrend.com/future/2.html http://www.caranddriver.com/FrameSet/0,1350,_sl_NewArticle_sl_0_cm_1633_cm_2 982_1_25_cm_00,00.html http://4car.co.uk/testsumm.cfm?ReviewID=117 http://4car.co.uk/testsumm.cfm?ReviewID=118 http://4car.co.uk/newspage.cfm?ID=44 Now the last one sates hoes Ssangyoungs are now badged as Daewoos. Ssangyoungs are the Koreans cars that use MB inline 6s also. This is one of the sites from MB Enthusiast's Page that talks about the Ssangyoungs. In this one, they use the 3.2 24vavle inline 6, which makes me want to believe that it is the m104 design: http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Downs/9323/sych600.htm So as you can tell, I am very confused as to what is really happening, and does this mean anything for us MB owners. There is an interesting series of photos and articles on the Daewoo at this link http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Downs/9323/sych600.htm
They claim the cars may go on sale in europe(Assuming that the 52000 striking Daewoo employees don't cause the recapitalization and sale of the company to fail!) ------------------ JCE 87 300E, 62k miles Smoke Silver |

I work at a local Daewoo dealer and we have a corporate car SsangYong Rexton RX280 - basically it is Mercedes M104, but BUILT UNDER LICENSE in KOREA. Previous SsangYongs used german-made M104 engine, but later they went for a full cycle production in Korea. Which damaged the quality. It works okay, but the ECU has kinda 'korean' fuel maps. I mean it really likes to drink fuel. Korean 1.6L engines go for 12 litres per 100 km, which more than my M103 3.0 W124T, haha!!!
