I understand the need to de-calcify; is it necessary to de-oil the cooling system in a gas engine MB? Thanks for your time.

Only if it has been oiled Mike,,

Jeff - thanks for your reply. Makes sense to me. On another site, I hear alot of talk about "de-oiling"...always figured it related to diesel cars; not gas.

MB makes & sells both degreaser & citric acid powder to clean inside cooling systems. A good dealer should be able to supply it.
Citric acid powder is for bi-annual cooling system flush. Degreaser is for oil in system(ie; headgasket blown). |
