S500 Front End Specs? Help!
The other day I took my 94' S500 to have the front end aligned. The tech asked if I wanted him to to it "his way" or by the Mercedes specs. He say's that by the MB specs it will wear out the outside edges of all four tires. He was saying the castor or camber (I don't remember) MB specs say set on total of 58 degrees. He says this will wear out the tires and it should be put on 30 degrees. He says MB does this to get the best ride and handling. He also said do not run the tire pressure as they say be cause of tire wear. MB say's 26 lbs, and he say's 35 lbs. I'm really confused now! Have any of you encounted this before?

Personally, I've never seen. . . .
a S500 that needed to be aligned. Now, of course, that doesn't mean that yours may not need it but it's very unusual. I've never aligned mine and the tires wear perfectly.
Re air pressure: 26lbs is guaranted to cause early tire replacement. I use and recommend 36lbs. |

Alignment
I have had mine aligned various times by MB dealers, no tire wear issues, the tech did mention the that a bulletin had come out to change it by a degree or so a few years ago, I have never heard of a radical change. 26# is a little soft, and will wear your edges, i think fact. specs were 28/30 or so and a little higher for extra load. 30/32 seems to make more sense
