I have an 87 300E and the key is starting to hangup in the ignition switch when trying to remove it...I've been through the living hell of removing the entire steering column on my 123 when the key decided that it would not come out.....My question here is, When I replace the ignition switch lock assembly do I have to use a switch and key that goes with the factory installed alarm system or can I use a non-coded lockset and key????As I do not care for the factory alarm system and would much rather have a newer type anti-theft system installed...
Thank You , Darryl |

This job (replacement of the steering lock assy) can be done without removing the steering column. I can do one in the car in about less than 2 hours. You can use any tumbler you like. The tumbler is usually the problem
