My 86 560SL surges up and down about 200-300 rpm when rolling down hill at above about 80kph. Idle is smoothe, but a bit high at about 900rpm. Any suggestions?

If the idle is too high, you have a fault and the system is not using the normal deceleration fuel shut off.

Thanks for that. I suspected the two might be related. Any suggestions where I start looking to get a"normal deceleration fuel
shut off"?
