Question Three washers in tranny filter kit for SL320?

I received a transmission filter kit (94 SL320) from FastLane containing the filter, pan gasket, 2 aluminum washers of equal size, and 1 larger copper washer. The torque converter and pan drain plugs each had a aluminum washer. The new filter cartridge inlet and outlet ports each had cork washers in place. Is the copper washer extra for this application? Or am I overlooking it's home?

Thanks

Crew

I'm not familiar with the '94 SL320, but have purchased quite a few transmission filter kits for the 722.3 in my 126 car. They come with a copper and aluminum washer.

In my case, the copper is used on the converter drain plug; the aluminum on the transmission pan drain plug.

I suppose it's possible the filter used on your MB is also used on others that would use a combination copper/aluminum washer as mine does.
