ABS light on after changing rear diff - need help

I just finished installing a late 87 190E 16 valve diff (3.27:1 LSD w/ABS) and now my ABS light is on and it appears that ABS is not working.

I did not use my original speed sensor in this diff, I used the speed sensor that came with the 16 valve diff, the two sensors were not quite idential, one being longer than the other and one having a small protruding tip.

So my question is: Should I have used my original speed sensor in the 16 valve diff or could the 16 valve speed sensor I am using just be defective? I have to assume this is the cause of the ABS malfunction, as everything was just fine before the diff swap.

Any assistance would be appreciated.
