Camshaft Seal Replacement

After changing the distributor caps and rotors on my 92 400SE, I noticed a small oil leak into my rotor caps. I have plans to change the camshaft seals.

Below is information I found on how to perform the camshaft seal replacement.

My question is, can I get the new camshaft seal seated correctly without the special MB tool 119 580 00 14 00 referenced in the below information?

Also, when I put back the front cam covers should I seal covers with special paste, oil resistant high temperature automobile silicone.

Remove Distributor Driver (also known as "Follower at Camshaft").
Fit insertion sleeve (7) on to exhaust camshaft (10), special tool 119 589 00 14 00.
Coat sealing lip of radial seal (1) with engine oil.
CAUTION: Do not use grease. Grease prevents the return delivery swirl on the sealing lip of the radial shaft seal (1) from transporting back the engine oil.

Fit radial shaft seal (1) onto insertion sleeve (7).
Press radial shaft seal (1) in with sleeve (8) (shop-made) to size"A" = 5 mm".
NOTE: The radial shaft seal (1) must be positioned vertically to the camshaft (10) in order to provide a proper seal.

Remove holder of shield caps of high tension distributors.
Press radial shaft seal (1) out with a screwdriver.
CAUTION: Do not damage camshaft (10) and mounting hole for radial shaft seal (1).
