The sunroof on my 1990 190E 2.6 is stuck. To begin with, it wouldn't close. Then, it wouldn't tilt. Now it won't open, close or tilt--working the switch produces only clicks. I have used the manual crank to open and close it, but when I try to tilt it with the crank, one side sticks. I have replaced the switch (old one worked only when it wanted to!) but the problem remains. How should I go about fixing this?

Sean, the sunroof must be taken out. At that point, you can see what is broken, more than likely, it is the lifting angles.

MY SUNROOF ON MY 1990 190E STOPPED WORKING IT WOULD OPEN, BUT NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY. I POPPED OFF THE INTERIOR PANEL TO DISCOVER THAT THE TWO SCREWS ON THE CABLE MECHANISM HAD FELL OUT. THE LOOSE CABLE WOULD DRAG THE ROOF OPEN AND WOULD PUSH IT PARTIALLY CLOSED. I REPLACED THE SCREWS AND USED LOCTITE TO KEEP THEM IN PLACE. THE ROOF WORKS PERFECTLY EVER SINCE.
