Keyless Entry on 129 Mercedes, reprogramable?

I found a couple of factory keyless entry modules for my car but my dealer says they cant reprogram them for me, They say that a new one cost 150 bucks. Why does everyone say that these are reprogramable? Are they???? If they are what years will work for a 91 SL300. Thanks guys!!!

OK, you FOUND them and they are for your car (like in your sock drawer)? Or you mean found them, like "I found them on EBay"?
These are vehicle specific. You can't take a remote for some other car and make them work on your car any sooner than take another 129 key blade and expect it to turn in your ignition. I mean, yeah one in a million or so shot it "may" work, but not too likely.

Why would someone tell you they are reprogrammable? UH, they want your money?

remote

12976000/0106 large old style remote (zippo ligher style, no key ring
14076003/0706 smaller newer style ( smaller with key chain attachment)

Both work on my 92 500 sel. The programming proceedure is in the owners manual " Point at the door sensor, push button, and unlock door with a key" If you dont see a flashing red light in the window after holding the buttton for a few seconds the remote or battery is bad. You will have to go from there yourself, if your service rep cant get them to work maybe they are not for your car.
These older versions were infrared and picked up in the door handles and trunk sensor, the newer were picked up in the rear view mirror.

Remotes

I gave you the part numbers, I have one of the old style and two of the hew style. I got the old with the car and the dealer provided 2 new style with the deal when I wanted two matching remotes with matching keys, that will be another issue.

I'll say it one more time: NO you can't program just any remote key to work with another car, these are vehicle specific. The procedure Pete gave is "resynchronization". The key will need resynchronization if the key battery goes dead. If you try the resynchronization procedure with a key which is not for your car it will NOT work.

Well, you're still talking about these Ebay keys and they're NOT going to work, I just hate to see you waste money on stuff that isn't going to work for you.

Just look at my location <<<< and you'll understand.
Resynchronization isn't going to make these keys work for you, that only will work for the correct key for the car.
