350 SDL black smoke

I have a 350 sdl with 260. KM I lose sight of the cars behind me when I step on the fuel pedal. So much black smoke that I am embarassed. I started adding Kleen Flow diezel conditionner but do not see much improvement.
Can someone help me.

Sound like it might be time to replace the EGR Valve. Another possibility is that your burning oil some where.

You might want to search the diesel discussion

about oil burning problems in the notorious 350 diesel motor, sometimes connected with connecting rod problems.

Please post this on the Diesel forum, you'll get a lot more responses.

Anyway, If your oil consumption is 1000 miles per quart or worse, ummm, get prepared for bad news. The 3.5L engine was flawed from the factory and smoking is one of the early signs of failure, followed by lack of power, abnormal noise, and very high oil consumption...
