gear problem

I was in reverse gear for my C230 sport kom coupe when I my car stopped when the clutch pedal was released prematurely. Afterwards, I restarted the car but the gears would not engaged in their gears. The shifter is loose. The car still start when pressing the clutch so that still works. What can be the problem?
