Rear CV joint noise

I think the CV joint is making noise on my wifes 420, she refuses to take it a MB garage to get it checked. It's been clicking for 6months. The boot is not leaking. What can I tell her to get the car into a garage?

1989 420SEL 140,000, just warming up. Total by 18 wheel gas truck rear ended, but refused to lose another MB. Had it repaired cost $10,000+ Great Car again SOLD it for a 2003 C320 to save on gas

Tell her you will pay for the new CV or Axleshaft, but anything else that breaks when it lets go is coming outta her fun money. Let's see; wheel bearings $500, differential $1500 (used), Misc. suspension components beat to death by loose axle shaft $$$$.
Seriously, it's not THAT bad of a job to replace the thing. I replaced the left one on my '87 560SEL about a year ago. BTW, how are your flex couplings? Mine went about the same time as the CV.
