Got the 88 SL back from the dealer -- they replaced the defrost vac unit -- they had to order it one.

It is a different looking unit - it looks stronger than the old unit.

4hrs labor -just under $400.00 including my 10% MBCA discount.

Had I been sure that this was the problem I would have liked to replace it myself -- but I did not know for sure that that was it.
