1995 C280 30K mikes.
Well I've had most of the 30K mile sevice done and I am thinking of changing the plugs myself. This car is mostly used for city driving. Is there a recommended plug (partsshop?) and gap, if it needs to be gapped at all. I could replace them with what it has but, if there is something more 'advanced' out there, I'd like to know. Thank You! ------------------ 1979 300D 133K miles 1989 300SE 1995 C280 |

Just use what it's supposed to be used: Bosch F8DC4 (which replaced the one described in your owner's manual). You should be able to get them from PartsShop. Be aware NOT to use platinum plugs. When I replaced mine last time, I assume the gap was as written on the box. I didn't check the gap although I have read somewhere that suggested to gap every plug before installation. You should have a torque wrench at hand for correct tightness.
WOW, a 95 with just 30K miles. I had mine last May and she has 27K miles on the clock. After we took her to Yellow Stone and Grand Canyon and couple of times to the Bay area from Southern California, it's 47K now. Have fun with the car. ------------------ Harry (94 C280) |
