2.3-16 falling flat

riding back from mother's last weekend about 50 miles from home, my car just started running flat like I was riding into a huge head wind. I got it home, did fine the next day, but was suspect. Rode it out of town yesterday, did fine up there and started running flat again, power drop off between gears just plain flat running. I checked my log and saw that I had never changed the fuel filter, so i did and it needed it, but to no avail, still the same. any great ideas? both fuel pumps seem to be running, not overly hot. Could it be ignition rather than fuel?
Thanks all
john brasfield

Many items could cause that symptom. I would start with basics like compression test. Timing chains can stretch or jump.

Chains are not that old, I think if rings or valves were bad, it would happen all of the time. I did check the ovp relay last night and one of the fuses were bad. I replaced it and it ran well. I guess the intermittent nature of it could be heat related, but car runs cool. This is weird.
Thanks for the help
John

Not so weird. With the fuse out, your ECU isn't functioning, so operation is just the mechanical injection. When conditions occur that would require the EHA to adjust mixture, it isn't happening.
