URGENT! hopw do I remove 190E mirror!

car is a 1990 190E

How do I remove the manual adjuster on the driver-side mirror? I have the mirror loose, but cannot fully remove it because of that manual adjuster!

OK, you'll look on the "front" of that plastic knob, and see a U shaped pice laying flush to the knob. The U shaped piece has small ribs in it. Push "out" (towards the outside of the car) on those ribs, and the U shaped piece will slide out. That will remove the retainer, and the knob itself will slide off towards the rear of the car. Hard to explain, easy to do. As long as you know about the U shaped piece you'll figure it out.

thank you thank you thank you!!!! **bakes you a bunch of virtual cupcakes** I got the driver-side mirror out based on yer info. I wonder if I did any damage to the mirror or the metal adjusting arm by trying to man-handle, twist, and "unscrewing" the plastic knob prior to getting yer info. You know how there is that L-shaped metal arm that is flattened at the end and plugs into the knob? Can you tell me if the L-shaped metal arm is supposed to be slightly bent at the other end where it goes into the mirror housing? I'm hoping that I didn't actually bend it! But the metal is so dense that I doubt I could have done it without damaging the plastic knob. Thanks soooooooo much, Gilly!!!!!!!!!!!!

I doubt you bent it. The stuff is rather tough, but brittle. I've broken them, but never bent one.
