The latest front offset crash tests from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety

IIHS Ranks Seven '04 Models "Good"

The latest front offset crash tests from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) put seven new and redesigned vehicles in the "good" category.

The insurance industry-funded group reports that the 2003 Mazda6, Infiniti G35, and Saab 9-3, Lincoln Town Car and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, as well as the 2004 Toyota Sienna and Nissan Quest minivans all earned the ranking.

The Toyota Sienna had been retested, after initial results showed a leaky fuel tank that Toyota has since recalled and reengineered. The IIHS test rams vehicles into an offset barrier at 40 mph, faster than the government's straight-on 35-mph barrier crash test.
