W202 Air Sampler Motor "making noise"
About 6months ago I started hearing a high rate ticking noise coming from my dome light. Later I found out it was my Air Sampler Motor (P#: 140 830 00 08) so I took a look at it and applied a small amount of oil to the shaft on the motor connecting the fan.
Now the noise started again and the oil seems not to help. What is causing the noise? Is there a way to fix it without replacing it? I believe they are like $70 for a little fan/motor. In the photo is the washer supposed to have a gap?

The $70 price you mentioned is actually for a box of 5. (thanks phil) You may want to try to get 1 from the dealership.
So how did you get access to the fan? The diagrams for my "97 C230 showed that the dome light was attached with two bolts but these were not on my car. Did you just pry it hard enough until it falls loose? |
