When I run the AC and am accelerating up through the gears I feel a little hesitation and have to push down pretty hard on the peddle to make it go away. Of course then then I'm going too fast and am driving like "jack rabbit" starts. What should I check? Without AC the car does fine 26-28 MPG.

Be sure that the auxillary fans are working. They are the key to keeping the pressures down.

benzmac,
I have the exact same problem with an automatic 2.6 (1991) and this is a new possible cause I've heard. What 'pressures' are you referring to????

Benzmac,
Would that be AC pressure? And should the fans come on WHENEVER the AC is on? Thanks.
