Question diesel keeps running with key out.

I've owned MB diesels since the 70's and currently have two 123's which I do all repairs on. The 300 TD turbo has just developed a leaking diaphram on the shut off at the back of the injector pump. She'll run all day with the key out. Getting to it looks like I've got to remove the oil filter housing. My shop manuals have little data on this and my local mechanic says he's done it too seldom to advice me. Before I scrape my knuckles on that one I wondered if you would have any sources on details for undertaking this repair?

Thanks in advance for any input.

A fellow enthusiast,

Jeff Karg
