Going in for my first oil change on my E320 2000 (4,000 miles).I am going to use synthetic Mobil 1 which I am going to purchase myself. Once the oil is changed, I am leaving for a 6,000 mile cross country trip. What weight would you recommend?

In the cars I own that I use Mobil 1 in, I prefer the 10W-30 weight. Works well in all conditions. ------------------ Rgds, Aaron Greenberg MB technician Precision Motorcars, Cincinnati, Ohio '67 250SE Cabriolet '77 450SL '80 300SD '85 380SE '89 420SEL '93 300E 2.8 '74 Jensen Interceptor Mk.III '81 DeLorean DMC12 '85 BMW 745i Turbo |

I agree with Aaron. Mobil 1 10W-30 is an excellent choice for your car. I use this vicosity Mobil 1 in my wife's car during the summer. Have a fun trip.

Jerry,
Mobil 1, 10W30 would be an excellent choice. However, if you're looking for high mileage out of your new Benz, don't feel that because you're using Mobil One that you can stretch your oil change intervals. Regardless of the oil you use, grit and acids accumulate in it, and the only way to get them out is to drain the oil. Enjoy your trip and your new Benz. Change oil hot, and change oil often, ------------------ Larry Bible '84 Euro 240D, 516K miles '88 300E 5 Speed '81 300D Daughter's Car Over 800,000 miles in Mercedes automobiles |
