Most common source of problems here? The panel has already been replaced once, and the air seems to be in the right direction, so I don't suspect it. Are expansion valves problematic in this model? I suspect it because sometimes it seems to be cooing quite well, then not very well at all. Other suggestions/tests? 84 300TD US, btw. Thanks.

Allen,

Can you provide more symptomatic information? I am assuming that the A/C is blowing hot air, how hot? Does it feel like the heater is on. Elaborate.

Good luck,

No, not hot, just not cold enough. Seems from time to time it gets colder, that's why I suspect the E-valve. Is this a symptom of the pushbutton panel also? Air is in the right directin at the right time. TIA, allen.

Allen,

The reason I asked about the Hot air is that the most common failure on this model is the mono valve, which when fails will blow HOT air.

Are you sure the system is fully charge? Is the sight glass clear?

Good luck,

One thing to check is the flap that regulates the recirculation of air. Its easy to do. Take out your glove box and right behind it are two vacuum valves that control the flap. Next set ac to the max cold setting (min temp) and watch the flap. It should open and not flap around (no pun intended). I have seen this once and heard about it a couple of times. The tip off is that it works sometimes and not all the time. Just one easy thing to check.
