Question 1991 300e altenator questions

My altenator has failed after 138k. I have a rebuilt coming to me from the Benzbin. However, after reading so many posts talking about replacing the brushes and the voltage regulator, I'm now thinking that I have spent too much on this problem!

Where would I get brushes for this unit? Is it difficult to DIY?
Should I just stay with replacing the whole altenator and voltage regulator?

An alternator is an electrical item. I know of no one who will take back an electrical item.

You bought it; it's yours.

I wouldn't feel too bad. You have a 12 yr. old car and it may actually be time.

My '91 300SEL is getting a rebuilt alternator soon - tired diode.
