Problems with Comfort / Convenience Module
On my 95 E320 Wagon, and in another post, I stated the problem with the autodown windows, etc., and no luck. So I located the Comfort / Convenience module under the rear passenger seat carpet, and unplugged it. Everything was tight, and I took the cover off. It looks brand new, with shiny relays, etc. There is no damage, it is all bolted down correctly, etc. There is power to the center clip out of the 5. There is also power to one other prong in another plug. When the ignition is off and you press the window switches (door open), the box clicks. Do these go bad often? How bad is the price (It looks expensive!) Are they testable?

convenience module test
Hi,
I'm not clear about the window operation when either front door is open on all W124 models. To test your convenience module: Open any window and/or sunroof. Remove the ignition key and get out of the car. Lock the car using your key AND hold the key in the lock possition. Windows and/or sunroof should close as long as you hold the key all the way IN THE LOCK POSSITION.. To test the auto window down feature, repeat above BUT, after windows have closed, turn the key to the unlock possition AND hold it there. All the windows should go down as long as you hold the key in the unlock possition. NOTE THAT IF YOU WAIT MORE THAN TEN SECONDS TO SWITCH FROM LOCK TO UNLOCK, THE WINDOWS WILL NOT GO DOWN. This is a safety feature but may have been changed at some point. Please let me know how it went. As for operating windws while a front door is open, there is a test procedure in the manual/CD. Hope this helps. Acky |

ALL TESTS Failed! I would really like to have this feature, mainly for the auto down front windows at the switches. Like I said, you definitely hear a clicking with one of the front doors open and the key out while attempting to raise or lower a window. (In owner's manual you should be able to operate windows, seats, steering column, radio, etc w/o key if a front door is open. The only suspect I have is the seat belt warning module (No light when opening driver's door, but light is on when pass door is open) I can operate seats, etc with pass door open but not with driver's door open. I wonder if there is a connection somewhere? Thanks for info. Do you know of any way to test actual C/C Module directly on unit?

I believe that the seat belt warning module (relay) is causing your problem, I read a post some time ago which went into detail on this issue.
I suggest you test the drives door switch (in the door jamb) to make sure it's completing the ground connection, if it is, then check power at the relay (behind the inst cluster). If you have a wiring diagram you can apply 12 volts to the appropriate pin exiting the relay, see if the windows then work, then you will know for sure if the relay is bad or not. By the way, we have a 90 and a 92 W124 and the windows do not work with the door open on either car. The key function works. I have not looked into it as I'm still perfecting the installation of remote entry units. I'll look for a diagram in case you don't have one. Acky |

I really appreciate your help-no wiring diagram-but I will check the grounding circuit on the door switch. It is not the actual switch, I have swapped... I'm going to take another look at the CCM. The owners manual states about the door open / power window operation function. Maybe this is only on 94-95 models? Mine was imported from the UK, if that makes any diference. Thanks again.

wiring diagram
I found a wiring diagram for your 95. Please send me an e-mail and I'll post it directly to you.
Thanks, Acky |
