Noticed leaks at right rear wheel area on garage floor, pulled of wheel and took these pics. Is it an easy fix? What is it anyway?
1996 E320 has 105,000 miles it's leaking under where there is 1 large bolt.... is this some kind of mount???

the questions that immediatesly spring to mind are:-
1) teh E series doesnt have self levellign suspension does it? 2) is there any oil 'forward' of this point 3) whats above this - afaik theres nothing above it 4) what sort of consistency is it - oil? fuel? whats does it smell like? could be transmission / diff leaking. brake fluid (feels 'dry') afaik that bolt is just the semi-trailign arm mount bolt - a bolt through the lower arm that holds the wheel in place. there shouldnt be any oil round there.

Gell filled front subframe mount is ruptured and leaking polyglycol out. Check it -- it's above the link where the "oil" is -- for torn rubber.
Needs to be replaced if bad, causes rear suspension "thumps" and funny handling. Peter

Hmmm... that was my guess too, a mount filled with some kind of gel/silicone.
anybody else want to add to this...? no self leveling on car, the leak SEEMS like brake fluid, and i cant see from top where its coming from. can any techs tell me if it's a DIY project? how much repair should be? Peter, thanks for directing me to SUBFRAME MOUNTS, i'll do a search now on that.

IS IT TRUE, i'm confused
I called 3 benz specialist and dealer to ask about leaking subframe mount. they all said "Never seen one leak before, they don't have fluid in them". but I told them I check my self and my non-benz specialist say it's leaking there . So can the subframe mounts leak? true or false? or do they want to charge me for just looking at the car. 1 guy wanted $60 to just LOOK at it. please reply as I am confused. Thanks!

On the W124, the original mounts were solid rubber, replacement FRONT mounts are gel, rears are still solid. I don't remember which of yours appears to be leaking.
I know it's not your brakes or shocks! Peter

Just looking at the evaporated stain(s) in the second photo. Did you notice this leak after filling up with fuel recently? Is there an amp or subwoofer mounted to the rear wall of the trunk? Just thinking out loud here.

still confused
the REAR has two mounts,( front and rear mount and the front is the leaking one.) I saw a new rear mount from dealer and it looked like solid rubber, the front (rear) they did not have any to show me. That's the one I want to know if it can leak. Any benz specialist/mechanics share their thoughts as I am confused.
I didnt add/screw anything new to my trunk so I didnt puncture anything. I just painted my floor recently and noticed it just last week. It doesnt leak NO MORE cuz i think it leaked all it can, that is why I'm suspecting a mount with some kind of filling. Please give me more ideas or thoughts.

I'm not 100% sure of this, but looking at the dried up marks, they look exactly like the ones I had on my fuel tank when I had a fuel leak, but since mine was inside, I could also smell it, but this only happened when the tank was full.
