Hey Steve

I wanna pick your brain. 722.3, 92 300e. Hard 1-2 shift. Clearances perfect, no sticking valves (that I can find), Band in perfect shape. What can soften this thing a bit? (btw, it has the early 2 peice servo)

Or do I shoot it and convert it 2nd gear start? :p

Joe

You should talk to Mario Aristides in Miami. He sells a number of kits including one that has ionstructions and springs to modify the accumulator action and thus shift timing and strength.

It's my guess that you have an accumulator spring broken. I have Mario's kit and have done some good with it. I often replace the VB though, as MB has had rebuilts for a pretty good price.

Nah, 92 model. Just a bit stiff on the 1-2, everything else is flawless. Its hard anough to clunk the diff on spirited accel. (which the the only way I drive the thing)

OK, Joe, but I believe the 92 has upshift delay. I've seen the actuator, which is built on to the end of the TV cable, stick in the delay position. Although it wouldn't JUST be a hard 1-2 shift complaint, you'd also notice the delay itself.

722.338, the 722.358 was the upshift delay box and only on the HFM cars. (cis 103 here) The only 92 124 chassis with upshift delay (US) is the couple with the early 104 in it. Around 8-92 they swapped to the 104 in the wagons (w/upshift delay) and the sedans follwed around 10-92 production.

Trust me, I've had my ass kicked by a few upshift delay cars and instantly notice the switchover valve for it.
