C180
Hi,
I've recently bought a 1998 C180 sport. Whilst driving in traffic recently, the BAS light flashed on and then went off again. It has done this several times. I have checked the brake fluid etc, and everything is normal. The ABS light doesnt come on with the BAS light, which leads me to believe that the ABS sensors must be ok. Also, the car is a stick shift, and is constantly jumping out of 2nd gear. Does anybody know what could cause these problem? Thanks for any help!! Peter |

BAS is a computer controlled fast acting compliment to the ABS system. There are 2 sensors in the power brake booster that sense how quickly you are applying the brake pedal & then the computer reacts to that so that ABS comes in quickly if needed.
Computer scan tool required to aquire codes. Check the under car shift linkage for excessive play. 5 speed trans?? correct

Your right, its is a 5 speed trans. The only gear that it jumps out in is second. Could that still be the linkage or the synchro?
Is there anything on the BAS system that can be checked e.g connectors etc? Also I dont know where the BAS controller is located on the car. Thanks for your help!! |
