Ed,

Do a search and type in 'mity vac' or 'mityvac' -- you'll see a bunch of info on this. I'm in the process of doing work on my vac system too. My mity vac will be here tomorrow...

From everything that I'm reading, you're not going to be able to do it right with out the vac.
