Cruise control stalk
Did you ever get help on this.. I have pix if you need to see them.. I did the same to my car. Actually it was not broke,it just came out of the socket. I had to remove the airbag then the steering wheel, to get to it.. You can e-mailme privately, I believe the pix may be too big to send through this site..
Peter

Would you mind to send me a copy of those pictures please. I am going to change the CC switch on my C180 to see if that is the problem with my intermittant operating CC. Thanks

A couple of additional comments...
(i) Be sure your wheels are pointed straight forward before starting, otherwise there's a piece in the steering you can't remove. (ii) Remove the battery before starting, I believe that if you turn the ignition on with the airbag removed you get an error code that you'll need to get reset by a shop. (iii) If you don't have the special T30 torx for removing the airbag as shown in one of the earlier pix you can buy a regular T30 screwdriver style wrench from Craftsman, cost $4. It's too long to remove the bolts with the steering wheel pointing straight ahead but you can cut the head off it and use some vise grips. (iv) Note where the spade connectors go under the airbag, on mine there were other tabs that accept the small spade connector but will short the horn when assembled. Aside from those points it is very straight forward, you'll also need some loctite for the main bolt that holds the steering wheel on. Good luck, Peter |
